Last night, November 8, 2011, twenty-three current and former Peace Partners Tutoring and Mentoring Program volunteers gathered to honor Carol Momany, for her 14 years of service as volunteer program coordinator. We pulled it off and she was surprised. I am sure that the most precious gift that we gave her was a framed collage of pictures of former students. In May, Carol shared with me that she would serve as a volunteer mentor and we are honoring her recognition that it’s time to MOVE WITH THE CHEESE. The Peace Partners Tutoring and Mentoring Program isstill running smoothly ever Tuesday and Thursday at First Presbyterian Church 475 Green Street. Check out the pictures under the Peace Partners tab.
After 13 ½ years as Executive Director, I too am MOVING WITH THE CHEESE. I have officially resigned from the position of Harbor Harvest Urban Ministries Executive Director effective December 31, 2011 and my last work day will be December 15, 2011. My life has been impacted both professionally and spiritually during these 13 ½ years and I will always be grateful for the relationships that God has allowed me to experience. My faith has grown tremendously during the past two months as I have embraced the reality that I am moving forward into a new destiny and a career door.
The legacy of my leadership will be evident in the lives of youth and parents as they take risk to try new adventures, graduate from high school, or commit to become better readers. I am not uncomfortable with the uncertainty of a change in what career path because the greatest gift of this process is my increased reliance on God as my provider.
